Church of St. Peter (at sunset)

The Protestant village church of St. Peter is in the district Uthleben the rural community Heringen / Helme in the district of Nordhausen in Thuringia .

history

In 1697 the church was rebuilt on the grounds of a previous church. Older, well-preserved components such as the tower shaft were sensibly integrated into the new building. The interior of the church is eye-catching due to the uniformity of the baroque design and furnishings of the nave . The parapet paintings on the galleries are particularly noteworthy . Also on the eastern choir wall mounted fresco from the 16th century on the origin of the world judgment is faith forming.

The funding years

For rural areas, the support from the KiBa Foundation in 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2013 is not just financial help, but also helps to consolidate the faith in the population . So the masonry of the nave could be renovated. The facade of the church tower was repaired. The foundations were resealed and the eaves paving was restored. With the external plastering and the renovation of the half-timbered tower , the village church is another sacred example of rural areas.
