The St. Pirminius Church is a Catholic parish church in Walsheim , a district of the Gersheim community . history

Before the Catholics in Walsheim got their own church building, they shared today's Evangelical Church of the place with the Protestants as a simultaneous church . Construction of the church began in 1851. The inauguration took place in 1856.

During the Second World War , the church suffered such severe damage that when it was rebuilt after the war, the tower had to be partially removed and then rebuilt well below its original height. In October 1949 the church was restored. The rectory was built in 1959/60 . In the course of a major renovation , which took place between 1968 and 1971, the church received an altar made of green marble .

architecture

The church building was built in the neo-Romanesque style and has five window axes . It is an aisle church with a choir attached to the nave . The tower of the church, in which the entrance portal is located, is integrated into the front of the nave.

organ

The organ of the church was built in 1988 by Hugo Mayer Orgelbau ( Heusweiler ). The instrument, with 11 registers and 2 manuals , is set up on a gallery and has a built-in play cabinet . The wind chests are mechanical slide chests
