The Catholic Church of St. Theresa in Rhens , a town in the Mayen-Koblenz district ( Rhineland-Palatinate ), was built between 1906 and 1908 and is a listed building .

history

The parish church consecrated to Teresa of Ávila is located below the old parish church of St. Dionysius outside the old town on Mainzer Straße. It was built between 1906 and 1908 because the old church was dilapidated and too small.

architecture

The neo-Gothic hall church was built according to the plans of the Mainz cathedral builder Ludwig Becker . The clear shapes and the well-worked out details, such as the tracery windows , give the church a pleasant appearance even today.

organ

In 1912 Christian Gerhardt from Boppard built an organ with 25 registers. This was replaced in 1983 by a new organ from Hugo Mayer ( Heusweiler ).

Monument protection

The parish church of St. Theresa is a protected cultural monument according to the Monument Protection Act (DSchG) and entered in the list of monuments of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate . She is at the train station .

The parish church of St. Theresa has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley since 2002 .
