history
Ortisei was first mentioned in a document in 1163.
On April 2, 1902, 34 objects in the village fell victim to a major fire. The Villach fire brigade and "half a company of hunters" were in action.
Until 1973 the place belonged to the municipality Landskron. In 1973 the municipality of Landskron was incorporated with its former districts. Since then, Ortisei has been part of the statutory city of Villach.
Filial church of Saint Ulrich
The sacred building at the western end of the village was first mentioned in a document in 1431. A restoration and conversion took place in 1966. The nave was widened and lengthened. There was also a redesign inside. The low, slightly drawn-in Gothic choir with a 5/8 end has an easterly ridge turret with a small onion helmet and arched sound openings. Sacristy , newly built funeral hall and a late Gothic pointed arch portal (formerly west portal) are added to the north. The visitor enters a new south portal with a canopy. The church is surrounded by the local cemetery. The oldest grave dates back to 1934. The listed cemetery cross was carved in 1884 by the sculptor Prof. Rupert Kamnig.
