Church of St. Veronika in Ziertheim

The Catholic parish church of St. Veronika in Ziertheim , a municipality in the Swabian district of Dillingen on the Danube , was built at the end of the 17th century. The church at Kirchstrasse 8 is a protected architectural monument .

history

The church consecrated to St. Veronica was built in 1696, and in 1789 it was extended to the west. In 1879 a rectangular sacristy was added to the east .

architecture

The single-nave building has a barrel-vaulted nave and a square choir tower , the substructure of which probably dates from the 13th century. The octagonal structure of the tower was built in 1695 and the onion dome was put on in 1800.

Furnishing

In 1876 the baroque altars were replaced by neo-Romanesque ones.

The figures of St. Vitus and St. Sebastian date from 1780/90 and are attributed to Johann Michael Fischer .

Georg Demharter

The grave slab of Dean Georg Demharter is one of six gravestones in the church. Georg Demharter died at the age of 46 on March 10, 1700. In the upper part there is a goblet on a tartsche in a laurel frame. The banner is flanked by two candlesticks and the lower text is flanked by a skull .
