The catholic chapel St. Wolfgang and Wendelin (also called Wendelinskapelle ) is located in the north of the city of Bobingen in Bavaria . It was built in the 16th century and is registered as an architectural monument in the Bavarian list of monuments.

history

The chapel , originally built around 1520 in Gothic style, was redesigned in Baroque style in 1673 . In 1937 the baroque high altar that had existed until then was sold to the community of Scherstetten and replaced by a neo-baroque winged altar by Hans Schorer . Since then, the appearance corresponds to the time when the chapel was built.

In 2014, under the direction of the Schwabmünchen architect Christian Bosse, a static securing was carried out because the belated belfry pressed on the roof of the chapel and the wooden gallery. The altarpiece of the former high altar is located next to the pulpit in the parish church of St. Felizitas in Bobingen.

description

The hall building has a retracted choir and roof turrets with an onion dome. In the roof turret there are two small bells with the names Wendelin and Wolfgang.

Furnishing

The neo-baroque high altar is a winged altar with figures of Saint Wendelin , Saint Roch and Saint Sebastian in the middle . The two side altars are also made in the neo-baroque style. The right side altar shows Saint Joseph with the baby Jesus, designed by the Landsberg sculptor Lorenz Luidl . A hand-carved statue of the Virgin Mary stands on the cafeteria . The left side altar shows the Holy Brother Konrad with a cross and a rosary in his hands. In the cafeteria there is a Fatschenkindl , two reliquaries and the Easter candle.

In the choir there is a small mobile concert organ with a total of six registers, which are distributed over a manual . There is no pedal mechanism. The stained glass windows with the secrets of the rosary were designed by Josef Oberberger in 1937; When depicting the Pentecost miracle, he worked with the faces of contemporaries and also depicted himself. The chapel's furnishings also include a series of valuable copperplate engravings depicting Jesus Christ's Way of the Cross .
