State palaces and gardens of Baden-Württemberg
State Palaces and Gardens of Baden-Württemberg (SSG) is an institution under public law that has no legal capacity and belongs to the Landesbetrieb Vermögens und Bau of the State Property and Building Administration in the Ministry of Finance of Baden-Württemberg . The SSG manage and market the most important palaces , castles , monasteries and gardens owned by the state of Baden-Württemberg .
On January 1, 2009, the SSG, which had existed since 1987, was converted into an institution under public law with no legal capacity.
Tasks and structure
The SSG consists of the headquarters in Bruchsal as well as eleven castle and monastery administrations. Michael Hörrmann and Uwe Weinreuter share the management. A total of 130 employees and 230 seasonal workers manage and market 60 cultural monuments. The monuments are divided into palaces, gardens, castles, monasteries and gems . The treasures currently include seven objects, including the grave chapel on the Württemberg river , the Roman bath ruins in Badenweiler , the Heuneburg settlement and the Karlsruhe grave chapel
The main task is the effective presentation and marketing of the state's own cultural objects. The connection between the population and the country's historical heritage is to be strengthened and rooted in the awareness of the population. Baden-Württemberg wants to present itself as a leading location for palaces, monasteries, gardens and castles. To this end, the SSG conducts scientific research as well as the conservation and restoration of the buildings and works of art.
The headquarters in Bruchsal consists of the central business areas “Administration (OPH)”, “Communication and Marketing”, “Collections and Brokerage”, “Property Management” and “Historic Gardens”. The eleven local administrations, which usually combine several historical monuments and are responsible for ongoing operations on site, are looked after from here.
