The main road 57 (S 57) is a state road axes that after the completion of the section-Rochlitz Niederfrohna the Bundesautobahn 72 by lowering dedication of the parallel portion to the Federal Highway 95 was formed in the 2011th

course

The S 57 starts northwest of Penig on the border with Thuringia , where it leads as L1357 to Klausa to the B 180 to Altenburg . After the two through-passages of the Peniger districts of Niedersteinbach and Wernsdorf, the B 175 is reached. Shortly afterwards this is left again and the S 57 swings onto the route of the former B 95 and from here continues the course of the S 51 that adjoins to the north . It now goes down into the valley of the Zwickauer Mulde past the Kobe wildlife park and under the large Mulde bridge of the A 72 .

At the bottom of the valley, the Glauchau – Wurzen railway line is crossed under and the Zwickauer Mulde. On the left is the city of Penig, which is bypassed with a bypass from the 1930s. After an industrial park between Penig and the district of Tauscha, the S 57 ends at the intersection with the S 241 just before the Niederfrohna junction to the A 72.
