The Stadtsportbund Leipzig e. V. ( SSBL ) is the umbrella organization of around 340 Leipzig sports clubs and 15 Leipzig professional associations with more than 96,000 active and passive members. The registered office is at Goyastraße 2 d in the Leipzig- Mitte district.

External structure
As an umbrella organization, the Stadtsportbund Leipzig operates in the system of sports self-administration. It is the first level of the interdisciplinary structure under the umbrella of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) . The territorial area of responsibility extends to the area of the city of Leipzig. The SSBL maintains close relationships with the superordinate State Sports Association of Saxony. In addition, there is constructive cooperation with institutions from the field of public sports administration at the municipal level. The partners of the SSBL include in particular the Department for Environment, Order, Sport with the associated Office for Sport in the city administration and the Sports Committee at the political level of the City of Leipzig.
The Sportjugend Leipzig operates in the same system as the SSBL, but always based on the respective youth organizations of the branches.
Inner structure
The highest decision-making body of the SSBL is the general assembly, which takes place once a year. It consists of the representatives of the member clubs and associations as well as the members of the Presidium. Every 4 years the general assembly takes place as a city sports day with the election of the presidium. Its legislative period is four years. The voluntary executive committee appoints a managing director and staffs the office with full-time employees.

General meeting
The general assembly is the highest body of the SSBL. It consists of the representatives of the member clubs and associations and the Presidium. They all have the right to vote at the general meeting. The general meeting takes place in the first quarter of each calendar year. It receives the reports from the presidium, the cash auditor and its youth organization Sportjugend Leipzig, approves the budget and the budget and relieves the presidium. The general assembly decides on proposals from its members, passes resolutions on amendments to the statutes and on matters of fundamental importance. According to the legislative period of the presidium, the general assembly takes place every 4 years as a city sports day with election of the presidium.
Bureau
The Stadtsportbund Leipzig eV is run by a voluntary executive committee. It receives its mandate from the City Sports Day for a four-year legislative period. The Presidium advises and fulfills the tasks within the framework and in accordance with the statutes and the resolutions of the general meeting. It sets the strategic guidelines, determines the positioning of the umbrella organization in all important issues and represents the Stadtsportbund Leipzig eV and the interests of its member organizations externally.
Principles
The Stadtsportbund Leipzig eV and its member organizations are committed to the free democratic basic order and thus to tolerance , cosmopolitanism and democracy in Leipzig. The statutes include a. established the following basic principles:
- Recognition of the statutes and regulations of the Landessportbund Sachsens eV
- Gender equality, integration of people with a migration background, inclusion of people with disabilities
- Rejection and exclusion from all forms of violence , extremism , xenophobia , discrimination and doping
- Recognition of the organizational, financial and professional independence of its members and promotion of friendly cooperation
tasks
The Stadtsportbund Leipzig eV promotes sport in its entirety and coordinates the necessary measures. In his statutes he has u. a. the following purposes:
- Representation of the interests of its members towards the Landessportbund Sachsen eV, the City of Leipzig, the State of Saxony and all other bodies and organizations in which sport is represented
- Advice and support for its member clubs in the design of club activities
- Organization and conducting of sporting events, sport courses, honor and award events
- Organization and implementation of training and further education measures
- Communication , representation, committee and lobby work in sport
Sports youth Leipzig
The Sportjugend Leipzig (SJL) is the youth organization of the SSBL. It leads and administers itself independently, but is closely linked to the voluntary and full-time areas of his adult organization. The SJL is a city-wide youth association (§12 SGB VIII) with its own youth regulations for more than 36,000 children, adolescents and young adults up to the age of 26 who are organized and active in around 300 Leipzig sports clubs. As a representative of the interests of children and youth sports vis-à-vis the self-government of sports (e.g. Landessportbund Sachsen), the public sports administration (Office for Sports), local politics (specialist committees) and educational institutions, Leipzig's youth association with the largest number of members is also a recognized independent youth welfare organization .

- The seat of the association is the city of Leipzig.
- The association has received recognition of non-profit status from the tax office .
- The association has anchored the promotion of sport as the main purpose of the statutes.
