Railway viaduct over the Staersbach

The Staersbach is a 10.7 km long brook in the joint municipality of Hollenstedt and the municipality of Sauensiek , which flows into the Este from the left and southwest .

course

The Staersbach rises on the Heidschnuckenweg in Sauensiek . It flows in an easterly direction through the village of Sauensiek and further straightens a vast meadow area, incorporating the Lietberggraben from the left and the Hollinder Bach from the right. The brook flows past the southern marsh of the village of Regesbostel, crosses the K 38 and takes on the Speckmoorgraben from the right. In the following forest area, the stream still flows clearly straightened along ponds, is spanned by a three-arched viaduct of the former railway line Buchholz idN - Hollenstedt - Harsefeld - Bremervörde until it crosses under the K 62 north of Wohlesbostel. From the K 62 to the L 141 in Moisburg, the stream bed was renatured by the Hollenstedt youth fire department in 2003. The Staersbach crosses the L 141 and flows into the Este at the Moisburg Mill Museum in the center of Moisburg from the left and south-west .

Bach sponsorship

Since 2003 the youth fire brigade of the joint community of Hollenstedt has been sponsoring the Bach stream. The stream bed was renatured by the youth fire brigade and the meandering course restored.

Status

The Staersbach is critically polluted in the upper and middle reaches (quality class II-III) and moderately polluted in the lower reaches (quality class II).

Traffic rules

Due to the intensive use of the Estonians by recreational sports and canoe rental companies, the Harburg district issued an ordinance in 2002 for the Estonians, their backwaters and the associated bank areas, which is intended to protect the habitat of plants and animals. Since then, driving and entering the Staersbach has been prohibited all year round.
