The Stahlberg is a 134  m high hill in the northern Front Palatinate or in the southern Rheinhessen ( Rhineland-Palatinate ).

Geographical location

The Stahlberg is east of the state road  455 and northeast of the local community Dirmstein . From there, the leading steel mountain road to the hill and at the exit to the service road . This crosses the border between the Palatinate and Rheinhessen on the hilltop and ends on the north side of the hill on the edge of Worms-Heppenheim .

morphology

The Stahlberg is part of an elongated low ridge that protrudes from the west into the Upper Rhine Plain and belongs to the western fracture zone of the Upper Rhine Rift. The chain of hills continues to the northwest with the Schneckenberg ( 143  m above sea level ) and further to the southwest with the Wörschberg ( 163  m above sea level ).

Waters

Along the southwest slope of the Stahlberg flows from northwest to southeast the Floßbach , which flows into the Eckbach from the left at the Dirmsteiner eastern edge . The watershed between the catchment areas of the Eckbach in the south and the Eisbach in the north runs over the Stahlberg and the other hills mentioned .

Economy and Infrastructure

In the eastern area of ​​the hill, which is almost exclusively planted with vines , there are three wind turbines in the Dirmstein district , which are assigned to the directly adjacent wind park in the neighboring community of Heuchelheim , which also includes eleven properties.
