Stambach with 632 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2014) is a cadastral municipality and former municipality in the judicial district of Fürstenfeld and in the political district of Hartberg-Fürstenfeld in Styria in Austria . Since January 1, 2015, it has been merged with the municipality of Grafendorf bei Hartberg as part of the Styrian municipal structural reform , the new municipality continues to use the name "Grafendorf bei Hartberg".

Geographical location

The community is located around five kilometers north of the district capital Hartberg , on the eastern slope of the Masenberg and west of Grafendorf , at an altitude of around 600 meters.

The municipality comprised the following three localities (population in brackets as of January 1, 2020):

  • Pongratzen (170) with Edhöf
  • Stambach (280)
  • Zeilerviertel (143)

The former municipality consisted of the only cadastral municipality Stambach with 2,047.81 hectares (2015).

coat of arms

The municipal coat of arms was awarded with effect from July 1, 1992.
Blazon (coat of arms description): “In a red shield golden a fallen sword, with the handle piercing a crown of leaves, between two pole-like strips, to which an inward-facing tit clings and the stand between two stakes that are cut obliquely inwards in the shield base. "
