Stanisław Klimek (anthropologist)

Stanisław Klimek (born September 10, 1903 in Lemberg , † September 13, 1939 in Umiastów near Ożarów Mazowiecki ) was a Polish anthropologist , ethnologist and university professor.

Life

Klimek graduated from the Lviv University , a doctorate in 1927 for doctoral and habilitation in 1932 for a professor . He belonged to the Lviv Anthropological School (Lwowska szkoła antropologiczna) and developed the hierarchical cluster analysis according to Jan Czekanowski as well as new classification and typology in the field of craniometry . In 1937, he traveled as a Fellow of the Rockefeller Foundation to the University of California, Berkeley and continued his research with the anthropologist Alfred Kroeber and Edward Winslow Gifford on the trunk of the Yana - Indians continued.

After the attack on Poland in 1939, he was mobilized as a Porutschik and fell on September 13 in the fighting for Warsaw .
