Stanislaw Mieroszowski

Count Jan Stanisław Wiktor Krzysztof Mieroszowski (Mieroszewski) (born December 27, 1827 in Cracow ; † January 4, 1900 ibid) was a Polish writer , historian and politician in Austria .

education

Stanisław Mieroszowski, son of a landowner, studied philosophy at the University of Friborg (Switzerland) in 1843/44 . From 1844 to 1847 he studied philosophy and law at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau . He was a co-founder of the Polonia student union and also belonged to the Walhalla (today the Freiburg fraternity of Teutonia ) and lived with the Polish philosopher Bronislaw Ferdynand Trentowski . Mieroszowski was in Paris from 1847 to 1848 . From 1849 to 1856 he managed his mother's property in Chrzanów , then his own property in neighboring Karniowice . From 1863 he lived with his family permanently in Krakow.

Political career

Mieroszowski was a member of the first municipal council of the city of Krakow from 1866 to 1872. He was also a member of the Krakow Charity Society and the Agricultural Society. From 1869 to 1874 he was chairman of the Cracow district council, from 1874 to 1878 and from 1882 to 1885 a member of the Reichstag. From 1879 to 1882 he was a councilor in Bosnia and from 1883 to 1885 a member of the Galician state parliament in Lemberg .

retirement

Mieroszowski retired from public life in 1885 and moved back to Krakow after a short stay in Pressburg . There he put on a collection of important books and works of art. He published numerous features and articles in newspapers and specialist journals.
