The StaplerCup is an annual skill - and Schnelligkeits - competition for drivers of forklifts and other materials handling equipment .

history

The StaplerCup was first launched as a regional competition in 1992 by the Suffel Fördertechnik company in Aschaffenburg .

Under the motto "Safety First", the manufacturer and provider of services in the logistics industry, Linde Material Handling , has been holding the competition of the same name since 2005 as the "German Championship for Forklift Drivers".

The concept of today's StaplerCup was developed in cooperation with the marketing agency BBDO Live for Linde Material Handling in 2005. The declared aim of the StaplerCup is to improve the image of forklift drivers. After the forklift manufacturer was sold by the former parent company Linde AG in 2006, the event also served as a "tool for location marketing" according to the BBDO. According to its own information, the agency has reached more than eight billion press contacts with the event since 2005 and generated reports on the competition in the daily press, TV, radio and internet media. Up to 15,000 spectators per year attended the final competitions. The forklift cup received several awards in the marketing industry.

After regional preliminary decisions, which are organized by the company's authorized dealers, the annual national final has been held on the grounds of the Aschaffenburg Palace since 2006 . Since 2007 an international competition ("International Championships") has been organized at the same time. Since 2008, a “company team championship” has been held in which teams from industrial and trading companies can take part. In 2014 a team & individual world championship was held for the first time. In 2015, Linde Material Handling held the first forklift driver championship, which is held annually at the StaplerCup.

The current Federal Minister of Economics and Technology has been the patron of the competition since 2008 .

Also in 2008, the location initiative “ Germany - Land of Ideas ” jointly honored the Forklift Cup and the city of Aschaffenburg .
