Stawy ( Ukrainian Стави ; Russian Ставы , Polish Stawy ) is a village in the Ukrainian Oblast of Kiev with about 1500 inhabitants (2001).
Stawy is the only village of the same name, 31.183 km² large district council in the west of the Rajon Kaharlyk .
The village is located at an altitude of 160 m on the bank of the Horochuwatka ( Горохуватка ), a 53 km long left tributary of the Ros , 12 km west of the Kaharlyk district center and 78 km south of the Kiev oblast center . The N 02 trunk road ( regional road P-32 ) runs through the village .
history
The village founded in 1550 (another source mentions the middle of the 17th century as the founding date) had 84 houses with a total of 1088 residents in 1790, together with the neighboring village of Bendjuhiwka ( Бендюгівка ). After the second division of Poland in 1793, the village came with the rest of the right bank Ukraine to the Russian Empire and was annexed to the Ujesd Kiev of the Kiev governorate . In 1866 Stawy became the administrative center of the Wolost Stawy in the south of the Ujesd Kiev. At the beginning of the 20th century there were 355 houses with a total of 2125 inhabitants in the village. During the German-Soviet War , the village was occupied by the Wehrmacht from July 29, 1941 to January 6, 1944 .
