Stefan Breuer

Stefan Breuer (born December 9, 1948 in Eisenach ) is a German sociologist .

Life

Stefan Breuer studied political science , history and philosophy at the universities of Mainz , Munich and Berlin . After completing his doctorate and habilitation , he was Professor of Sociology, initially at the Hamburg University of Economics and Politics (HWP), which was subordinated to the University of Hamburg as the Department of Economics and Politics (DWP) from 2005 , and since 2009 the Department of Social Economics . He has been retired since spring 2014.

Breuer works a. a. history of ideas and, along with Dirk Kaesler , Johannes Weiß and Wolfgang Schluchter, is one of the most distinguished experts on Max Weber's writings . He was best known for his work on the political right between 1871 and 1945, including his criticism of Armin Mohler's construct of the so-called “ Conservative Revolution ”.
