Stefan Pospichal (born November 27, 1910 in Vienna , Austria-Hungary , † 1940 ) was an Austro-Czechoslovak soccer player who was part of the Czechoslovak national team in 1935 .

Club career

Stefan Pospichal first played for the second division club SC Cricket-Frem , from where he moved to FK Austria Wien in 1932 . There, however, the middle runner came only to a single use in the championship, as there was overwhelming competition in this position with the national player Johann Mock . Pospichal therefore decided to accept an offer from Czechoslovakia and switched to the German-Bohemian club Teplitzer FK . In 1933 the team, which also included Ehrenfried Patzel , finished eighth in the top division.

In the following year, the fourth place was enough for the Teplitz to qualify for the Mitropacup . At this point, however, Pospichal was no longer with the blue-whites, as he had drawn the Brno club SK Židenice's attention to himself with his achievements and changed clubs in April 1934. In the next season, the Brno supported by Jenő Konrád , whose line-up also included Karel Burkert and Oldřich Rulc , took third place in the championship. In the Mitropacup a victory over SK Rapid Wien succeeded in the first round , only in the quarter-finals Židenice failed against Ferencvárosi FC . Also in 1935/36 Pospichals club, which had meanwhile also signed Karl Klima , belonged to the top group, a fourth place entitled to participate again in the international competition, where they failed this time at AS Ambrosiana Inter .

Third place could be achieved again in the 1937/38 season. Shortly after the occupation of Czechoslovakia by German troops, Pospichal left the association in 1939. He was killed as a soldier in World War II in 1940 .

National team

Pospichal had taken Czechoslovak citizenship during his time in Brno and was appointed as a substitute for an international match against Yugoslavia in September 1935 , where he came on in the 25th minute for Štefan Čambal . This 0-0 win in Belgrade was Pospichal's only appearance in the national team.
