Stefan Solonar (born April 9, 1956 in the Moldavian SSR ) is a German chess player and trainer.

Life

At the youth championship of the USSR in early 1973 in Kishinev Solonar took one of the back places. The next year he won with Kolchosnikul ( Anatoli Lutikow and other players) the II. All-Union Tournament of Land Sports in Dnepropetrovsk , where he showed the best result on the youth board. In the 1970s and early 1980s he took part in a few other tournaments, but did not come to the level of the best Moldovan players such as Boris Newednitschi, Nikolai Popow or Boris Itkis. This changed with the turnaround in the Soviet Union, when he got the opportunity to take part in international competitions. Since 1993 he has held the title of International Master . In the 1990s he moved to Germany and in 2000 switched from the Moldovan Chess Federation to the German Chess Federation .

In 1997 Solonar took sixth place at the 1st Neckar Open in Deizisau . In the same year he was fourth, tied with the winner Wjatscheslaw Ikonnikow , at the Open on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the SG Baden-Baden . At the accompanying open to the 7th World Championship for Seniors in November 1997 in Bad Wildbad , which Normunds Miezis won, he took fourth place. Also fourth, with first-placed Leonid Vološin on points, he was at the 5th Karl Mala memorial tournament in 2001 in Frankfurt-Griesheim . In October 2001 he won the tournament at the Erlangen Chess School Open with 5 points out of 5. In 2002 in Frankfurt am Main and in 2005 in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe , he won the Rhein-Main-Open. In 2003 he shared first place with Bogdan Grabarczyk at the 3rd Griesheim IM tournament. The next year he was Hessian individual champion in Mörlenbach , 2007 runner-up to Arno Zude in Erlensee . He played club chess for FTG Frankfurt, VSG 1880 Offenbach and SC Heusenstamm.

He works as a chess teacher at various educational institutions. As a coach, he has already had some successes in the Moldavian SSR, such as the victory of the Kishinev youth at the 1983 All-Union tournament in Petrozavodsk . In 1987 he graduated from the Moscow Higher Training School . His former students include Irina Ionescu-Brandis and Hagen Poetsch , among others .
