Stefan Striker

Stefan Stürmer (born November 17, 1970 in Munich ) is a German psychologist .

Life

After graduating from the Immanuel-Kant-Gymnasium (Münster-Hiltrup) (Ø 1.6) in 1990, he studied biology , German studies and history at the University of Münster from 1990 to 1992 . He completed his studies in psychology (preliminary diploma, “very good”) (1992–1997) in Münster and Leipzig with a diploma in psychology (Dipl.-Psych.) At the University of Leipzig (“very good”). From 1997 to 2002 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Psychology (University of Kiel / University of Münster). After completing his doctorate in psychology (Dr. phil.) In 2000 at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, topic: “Social movement participation: a psychological two-way model” (“summa cum laude”), (PhD supervisors: Bernd Simon and Bert Klandermans ) he taught from 2002 to 2007 as junior professor for applied social psychology (W1) at the Institute for Psychology in Kiel . From 2001 to 2002 he was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Psychology at the University of Minnesota . In 2005, the qualification as a university professor was determined by an interim evaluation of the junior professorship at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel. Since 2007 he has been teaching as a full-time university professor (W3) as head of the chair for social psychology at the FernUniversität in Hagen .

His main focus is on altruism, helping and empathy; collective identity and civil society engagement; Diversity and collaborative e-learning; Judgment processes in psychological assessment; Xenophilia and intergroup contact.
