The Steinbach is a right tributary of the Mühlenbach in Bonn , Beuel district . Its total length is 1.45 kilometers and its catchment area covers 20 hectares.
course
The Steinbach arises on the outskirts of Holzlar against the Sankt Augustin district of Hangelar on the edge of the nature reserve "Nasswiesen und Bruchwald Kohlkaul". The water flows off in a south-westerly direction and flows into the Vilicher Bach at Bechlinghoven , which in this section is referred to as "Mühlenbach".
Characteristic
The Steinbach mostly crosses settlement areas and therefore appears in large parts as a moderately natural and predominantly developed body of water. Around 120 meters of the flow section are piped. In the upper reaches, however, the Steinbach also crosses protected areas as well as agricultural and forestry areas. The brook is continuously assigned to water quality class III, which corresponds to heavy pollution. The reason for this is, among other things, the discharge of rainwater and drainage water as well as pre-cleaned wastewater. The normal flow rate of the Steinbach is 0–3 liters per second, during high water the maximum flow rate is 400 l / s.
Backwaters
The Steinbach has an approximately 0.64 km long former tributary, which has been preserved as a green design element in a residential area after expansion, but is no longer connected with the Steinbach. This body of water, which is referred to as the "Nameless Bach on the Vogelweide" in the Bach Development Plan of the city of Bonn, arises in the Holzlar district of Bonn's Beuel district at the level of the "Am Tiergarten" street and flows westwards along the "An der Vogelweide" street Direction off. After this road joins the Finkenweg, the water follows this path in a northerly direction and finally flows into a standing water that is at the level of the confluence of the Finkenweg with the Kautexstraße. Only a few meters north of the estuary, popularly known as the “Kautexweiher”, is the nature reserve “Feuchte Grünlandbrachen und Mähweiden Kohlkaul”, while to the west is the premises of the automotive supplier Kautex Textron .
The nameless brook on the Vogelweide is piped over a length of 340 meters and therefore over more than half of its flow path. In the open area, the body of water resembles a road ditch. He has only a weak closeness to nature. The normal flow rate is very low at 0 to 2 l per second, but can increase to up to 80 l / s during high water .
