description

Located in a clearing, the large stone grave "Egypt" has a special appearance: the bearing stones are still wrapped up to the upper edge in the comparatively well-preserved burial mound. Ten bearing stones and two cap stones have been preserved in their original position. A part of the hill was removed during the 1992 investigation, and it was found that the access was not - as previously assumed - in the south-west, rather no access could be determined. In addition, the remains of an oval enclosure made of boulders were found . The original mound must have had an area of approximately 15 meters by 12.5 meters. The small chamber (5.9 meters × 1.65 meters) was covered with a larger mound of earth. This is what all of the smaller graves used to look like. Approx. Another large stone grave used to be located 35 m southwest of this grave.

In the area of the Wildeshauser Geest Nature Park and its immediate surroundings there are numerous other facilities of a similar type.
