The Steintorblock , (also: Nordmannblock ) in Hanover is a block of two-story commercial buildings on the Am Steintor square on the north side of Georgstrasse at Georgstrasse 1-9 in the Mitte district .

history

The building complex was built after the Am Steintor square was laid out in 1954 and was built by the architects Gerd Lichtenhahn and Hans Klüppelberg and completed in 1955.

As part of the multi-phase urban development and landscape planning ideas competition for the redesign of Hanover city center under the title Hannover City 2020 + , the Am Steintor square was also planned to be developed. As part of an inquiry to the city district council center about the planned development of the Am Steintor square , the ownership structure of the "Nordmannblock" was also presented by the city administration as follows:

“The Nordmannblock is made up of 13 individual building lots . In addition, the inner courtyard is divided into several individual plots. There are a total of 12 different owners or communities of owners, including 4 communities of heirs with several members and with two parcels there is partial ownership with several owners. "
