Stella Levitt
Stella A. Levitt (born May 24, 1930 in Los Angeles ) is an American jazz singer .
Stella Levitt, who toured with Lionel Hampton early in her career , was the wife of drummer Al Levitt . In 1968 the joint album We Are the Levitts was created for ESP-Disk , on which guest musicians such as Chick Corea , Ronnie Cuber and Teddy Kotick u. a. her 13-year-old son Sean can also be heard as a guitarist. From 1975 the couple, who had seven children, lived in Paris and performed at various festivals. Al Levitt also produced her album Stella Levitt, recorded in France in 1980, for Polydor, on which Jacques Pelzer , Riccardo Del Fra and Dennis Luxion also participated. In the 1980s, recordings were made in Belgium with Jean-Pierre Gabler , Michel Herr and Freddie Deronde . In 1988, Al and Stella Levitt recorded the album Dearly Beloved . She can be heard in the 1990s on an album by her son Sean Levitt, which featured John Betsch , Alain Jean-Marie and Gilles Naturel .
