Stemmern is a district of the Sülzetal community in the Börde district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

Stemmern is located in the tourist region of the Magdeburg Börde about 16 km south of Magdeburg . The federal highway 246a runs through the village .

history

On July 1, 1950, Stemmern was incorporated into the neighboring Bahrendorf . Stemmern has been part of the Sülzetal administrative association since 1994. In 2001 it became part of the newly formed community of Sülzetal.

Stemmern introduced this new coat of arms in 1938. The coat of arms is derived from the family coat of arms of a certain line of the noble lords of Hakeborn , which had half a dog in the coat of arms. This family has owned fiefs and estates in Stemmern, Sülldorf and Bahrendorf since at least the 14th century, according to documents from abbots of the Berge monastery . The red-silver (white) divided shield is the state coat of arms of the Archbishopric of Magdeburg, in which Stemmern was located. The design of this 1938 introduced emblem was, according to the State Archives Council Otto grain from the in Osterweddingen living Graphic carried Willi Kluge.
