Stephan Johannes Kruip (born March 14, 1965 in Passau ) is a German physicist , cystic fibrosis patient, federal chairman of the non-profit association Mukoviszidose e. V. , member of the German Ethics Council and two-time marathon runner .

Life

Kruip studied after the Abitur 1984-1991 Physics at the University of Würzburg and works as a patent examiner at the European Patent Office in Munich .

Volunteering

Since 1988 Kruip has been involved in the Mukoviszidose e. V. as a representative of the interests of adult patients with cystic fibrosis , since 1991 as a board member of the association, and since May 2014 as national chairman. A particular concern of his is the use of complementary medical approaches in cystic fibrosis with simultaneous sharp criticism of esotericism and quackery by charlatans who do business with the plight of patients. Another focus is the bioethics debate because cystic fibrosis is often cited as a prime example of prenatal diagnosis , pre-implantation diagnosis , gene therapy and lung transplantation . In 2002, Kruip was an expert in a hearing of the National Ethics Council on the subject of genetic diagnostics. In order to improve awareness of cystic fibrosis, Stephan Kruip worked on various TV productions and magazine articles. On April 11, 2016, Kruip was appointed to the German Ethics Council by President Norbert Lammert .

Inventions

Kruip is the inventor of the motif bell for cameras, which was published on April 10, 2008 by the German Patent and Trademark Office in Munich as patent no appears to be photographed by him.

Sports

The effect of endurance sports on the course of cystic fibrosis is being intensively researched. Kruip started running in 2007 and, despite his serious lung disease, ran his first half marathon (26.4 km) in 2:52 h at the 10th Mukolauf 2013 on the island of Amrum . He then intensified his running training again and ran three marathons: 2015 in Munich in 04h: 26m: 49s (run number 5578), 2017 in Munich in 04h: 14m: 07s (run number 2649) and 2018 in Cologne in 04h: 02m: 22s ( Run number 5486, rank 287 in the age group M50).
