Stephan Noth

Stephan Noth (born September 20, 1943 in Dresden ; † December 12, 2014 ) was a German teacher and headmaster. From 1991 to 2004 he was director of the Evangelical Kreuzgymnasium in Dresden (Kreuzschule).

Life

Stephan Noth, son of the Saxon regional bishop Gottfried Noth , was born in Dresden in 1943 . After graduating from high school as a Crucian in 1962 , he studied theology in Rostock and after graduating became a brief academic assistant and lecturer in Hebrew. He was arrested in 1968 for “aiding in unlawful border crossing ” and spent a total of two years in the pre-trial detention center of the Berlin-Hohenschönhausen State Security and in the Cottbus penitentiary . In 1970, Noth was bought out by the Federal Republic of Germany and then studied German in Münster . From 1974 to 1990 Noth taught German and religion at the Carl-Jacob-Burckhardt-Gymnasium Lübeck and was also active at the Lübeck study seminar until 1991, most recently as senior director . After the peaceful revolution , he was elected director of the Kreuzschule in Dresden in September 1990. Before taking office, he worked briefly in the Schwerin Ministry of Education . In 1991 Noth returned to Dresden, where he worked as headmaster of the Kreuzschule until his retirement in 2004. Since 1992 he was a member of the Rotary Club Dresden.
