Stephan you Trossel

Stephan du Trossel , actually Étienne du Trossel (* 1657 in Languedoc ; † September 20, 1714 ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Trossel comes from Montpellier and was one of the many refugees who came to Brandenburg in 1690 .

As early as 1687 he was a captain in the "Courneaud" battalion and in 1691 fought near Liège. In 1692 he became a lieutenant colonel and on February 27, 1702 a colonel in the "Varenne" regiment. On June 8, 1706 he was appointed major general and the following year he was appointed in command of Altena in the county of Mark . On October 20, 1708 he was appointed chief of the "von Schlabrendorf" No. 9 infantry regiment .

In 1713 he led a corps of three battalions and eleven squadrons of dragoons to the Upper Rhine in support of Prince Eugene . Trossel took winter quarters with the troops in Limburg .

He was involved in the campaigns in Italy, on the Rhine and in Brabant.

Trossel died unmarried in 1714. But he adopted the son of his sister Étienne Basset (* 25 August 1699, † 1760) as a child, in order to pass on the name.
