Stephanie Erben (born August 13, 1971 in Riesa ) is a German politician ( Greens ) and was state spokeswoman for the regional association Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen Thuringia from 2013 to 2020 .

Erben completed her school education in her native Riesa. During her school days in the GDR , she was not a member of the Ernst Thälmann pioneer organization and did not take part in the youth consecration . After graduating from high school in 1990, she worked as an assistant director for the State Theaters of Saxony . In 1994 she came to Thuringia to study singing at the Weimar Academy of Music . After completing her studies, she completed a postgraduate course in cultural management from 1999 to 2000 . She has been active in this profession ever since. After the Greens entered government in 2014 ( Cabinet Ramelow I ), she devoted herself to party work full-time.

Erben has been a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen since 2009. In 2010 she became spokeswoman for the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt Green District Association , and since 2011 she has been a member of the state executive committee of her party in Thuringia. She ran for a direct mandate in the Bundestag constituency of Sonneberg - Saalfeld-Rudolstadt - Saale-Orla-Kreis for the 2013 federal election and received 3.9% of the votes. On November 30, 2013, she was elected state spokeswoman for her party in Thuringia alongside Dieter Lauinger . Since the local elections in 2014 , she has been a councilor and parliamentary group leader of the green parliamentary group in Rudolstadt . On October 24, 2015, she was confirmed in the office of State Spokesperson; Rainer Wernicke now officiated at her side . On November 18, 2017, she was able to prevail against an opposing candidate and was elected state spokeswoman for the third time with 50.9 percent of the delegate's votes; Denis Peisker has since acted as the second state spokesperson . Both did not run again in the election for the new state executive in 2020.
