Rainer Wernicke

Rainer Wernicke (born December 26, 1962 in Düsseldorf ) is a former German politician (non-party, Greens until March 2018 ) and was one of the two state spokesmen for Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen Thuringia from 2015 to 2017 .

education and profession

Wernicke's father was a head waiter, his mother a cook. He put 1982 the Abitur at Humboldt High School Dusseldorf , and then studied for three semesters Law at the University of Cologne . From 1983 to 1985 he did his community service in the mobile social aid service at the Düsseldorf Social Welfare Office. From 1985 to 1991 he studied political and communication science at the Free University of Berlin . During his studies in 1987 he co-founded the left-wing private radio broadcaster Radio 100 and became the editor-in-chief of the daily news program. He also worked as a freelancer for the daily newspaper , the Spandauer Volksblatt and the SFB, among others . In the course of the political change , he reported increasingly from East Berlin and was officially accredited as a foreign correspondent there after the fall of the Berlin Wall .

In 1991 he moved from Berlin to Rudolstadt in Thuringia to take over his grandparents' inn there. In 1993 he ran his own marquee for the first time at the Rudolstädter Vogelschießen . In 2003 he became managing director of Pörze Privatbrauerei KG , which he took over after the owner's death in 2004 and transferred to Rolschter Brauhaus GmbH & Co. KG .

Wernicke is married and has three grown children.

Political career

Wernicke was already involved in the campaign “ Stop Strauss! “And took part in peace movement demonstrations in the 1980s. In 2010 he joined the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district association of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen. For the 2013 federal election he ran for 10th place on the Thuringian state list of his party. In the state elections in Thuringia in 2014 , he ran as a direct candidate in the constituency of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt I , where he received 5.6% of the vote, and in 10th place on the state list. On October 24, 2015, he was elected to succeed Dieter Lauinger as state spokesman at the Thuringian state party conference of the Greens . In the second ballot he received the necessary majority of 53% of the votes against two other applicants. Stephanie Erben officiated at his side .

After Erben was narrowly re-elected at the state party conference in November 2017, Wernicke, whose relationship with his co-state spokeswoman was considered tense, withdrew his candidacy. Denis Peisker was then elected as the new state spokesman . In March 2018, Wernicke announced his departure from the party because power interests and career considerations were too much in the foreground.
