Stephen Wright (Bishop)

Stephen James Lawrence Wright (born October 9, 1970 in Stafford ) is a British clergyman and appointed Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in Birmingham .

Life

Stephen Wright acquired in 1992 at the University of Leicester a degree in Law and was a 1993 attorney admitted. He later studied philosophy and Catholic theology first at St. Mary's College in Oscott and then at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome , where he obtained a licentiate in Catholic theology. He received on 9 September 2000, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

After ordination, Stephen Wright was parish vicar of Corpus Christi parish in Stechford before becoming parish priest of St Joseph parish in Banbury in 2003 . From 2007 to 2019 Wright was the pastor of St. Mary's Parish in Burton upon Trent . From 2012 he was also Episcopal Vicar for the religious . Stephen Wright has been Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Birmingham since 2019 .

On 18 March 2020 Pope appointed him Francis to the titular of Ramsbiria and Auxiliary Bishop of Birmingham. The consecration by the Archbishop of Birmingham, Bernard Longley , is scheduled for 10 June 2020th
