Steven George "Steve" Galloway (born February 13, 1963 in Hanover ) is a former English football player . The striker played a large part of his career in Sweden, where he then worked as a coach.

Career

Galloway began his Sutton United career in the Isthmian League . In 1984 he moved to Crystal Palace in the Football League Second Division . Here, however, he could not prevail against Andy Gray and Ian Wright . Therefore, he was awarded to Cambridge United in 1985 , before moving to Maidstone United in the Football Conference a year later .

In 1987 Galloway moved to Sweden. With Djurgårdens IF he managed to return to the Allsvenskan , where he was the club's top scorer in the 1988 season with ten goals this season and reached the championship final against Malmö FF . Although this was lost, he was recognized by the newspaper Expressen as the most valuable foreign player. He drew attention to himself again "on the island" and went on loan to FC St. Mirren in Scotland. However, his stay was not crowned with success, so he returned to DIF. In 1990 he moved to Umeå FC , where he was regularly one of the club's top goal scorers for the next ten years, commuting with him between the first and second division . After the end of the second division season in 2000 , he ended his active career.

After the end of his career, Galloway stayed in Umeå. In 2002 he was coach of the fifth division Sandåkerns SK , which he coached two seasons. In 2004 he took over the coaching position at his long-time club Umeå FC. Despite being promoted to the Superettan in 2005, his engagement ended at the end of the season. Since then he has been a member of the coaching staff of the women's football club Umeå IK, which plays in Damallsvenskan . At the beginning of May 2009 he ended his engagement as an assistant coach. During the summer break in June 2009, he accepted an offer from his former club Djurgårdens IF to take care of the relegation-threatened first division club until the end of the season as the successor to Zoran Lukić in collaboration with Andrée Jeglertz as a coaching duo.

Galloway runs a sports shop in Umeå.
