Stephen Sanders "Steve" Knight (born May 12, 1935 in New York City , † January 19, 2013 in Riverdale (New York) ) was an American rock and jazz musician ( bass , keyboard , trombone , tuba , too Banjo , guitar , piano ).

Live and act

Steve Knight graduated from Columbia University and played in the music scene in the New York borough of Greenwich Village in the 1950s and 1960s, a . a. in the rock groups Devil's Anvil and Wings . He finally became known as the keyboardist of the rock group Mountain , founded by Leslie West and Felix Pappalardi , with whom he toured internationally and also performed at the Woodstock Festival . Knight also appeared on the Mountain albums Climbing! , Nantucket Sleighride, Flowers of Evil and The Road Goes Ever On with.

In the following years he worked full-time as an engineer; next to that with the Red Onion Jazz Band and over twenty years with his formation Taksim , with whom he recorded two albums. In the field of jazz, Knight participated in 10 recording sessions between 1958 and 1978.
