Stocksia brahuica is the only species of the genus Stocksia in the soap tree family (Sapindaceae).

description

Stocksia brahuica is a heavily branched shrub that reaches heights of up to 4 meters. The branches are spread out horizontally, hairless and transformed into trunk thorns up to 6 centimeters long. The leaves are 1.5 to 2.5 centimeters long, 2 to 3 millimeters wide, sitting or almost sitting, linear, entire and blunt.

The flowers are greenish yellow. The flower stalk is 7 to 13 millimeters long. The 2 to 6 bracts are 2 millimeters long and sub-like , their inside is woolly. The 2 bracts are 2 to 3 millimeters long and subulate, their edge is glandular . The sepals are 5 millimeters long, circular to oblong, slightly shaggy on the inside of the base and glandular on the edge. The petals are 4 to 5 millimeters long and oblong-egg-shaped, their nail is hairy. The disc is soft, bare, and flattened in its center. The stamens are uneven, the stamens are 5 to 7 millimeters long, the base is shaggy hairy. The anthers are about 2 millimeters long and oblong. Staminodes are present in the female flowers . The ovaries are 2 millimeters long, almost spherical, sessile and hairless. The stylus are 1 millimeter long. The scar is three columns. Pistillodies are present in the male flowers.

The capsule fruits are 2.5 to 3 centimeters long, 3 centimeters wide, reddish-pink, flattened and triple. There is one seed in each compartment. The seeds are 6 to 7 millimeters long and brown to black in color.

The flowering time is in April and May.

Occurrence

Stocksia brahuica is found in Iran , Afghanistan, and western Pakistan .
