Strife is an American hardcore punk band from Thousand Oaks , California .

history

The band released their debut album One Truth in 1994 through Victory Records . Three years later, the second album In This Defiance followed , in which Chino Moreno from the Deftones , Dino Cazares from Fear Factory and Igor Cavalera from Sepultura had guest appearances.

In 1998 the band broke up, but found back together in 2001 and released the third album Angermeans in the same year . As a guest musician, Bobo from Cypress Hill was responsible for the tribal drums, piano and violin parts were also used. Then Strife played irregularly in front of audiences, but did not record another album for eleven years. Witness a Rebirth , the band's first album not on Victory Records, once again had a prominent guest with Igor Cavalera as drummer.

style

At the beginning of her career, Strife, along with Earth Crisis and Snapcase, was one of the main protagonists “for an aggressive, metallic new style” in the straight-edge scene. The band stayed true to this style on their last album from 2012, which was "completely unaffected by the metalcore excesses of the last decade", according to the Ox-Fanzine .
