length 25 km

The river is an approx. 25 km long tributary of the Ucker in Brandenburg , nowadays strictly speaking an indirect inflow due to hydraulic engineering measures. Its headwaters are the Boizenburg lakes. A common catchment area forms with the Lychener waters through a vertex .

course

It begins at Schumellensee approx. 2 km west of Boitzenburg in the Uckermark . Through the grain mill to the west of Boitzenburg, the electricity to the kitchen pond and large carp pond is pre-stored. The level is in Boitzenburg. Several reservoirs reduce fluctuations in the runoff towards the Ucker. During floods, part of the water is diverted through the Hausseebruchgraben to the southwest into the Great Baberowsee , which is part of the Havel catchment area . Rummelpforter Mühle is located about 3 km downstream . From here the river flows through the nature reserve Boitzenburger Tiergarten and the river - which extends to Prenzlau - to Gollmitz . Here the current to the mill pond is dammed again.

The river naturally flows into the Ucker in the south of Prenzlau , about 200 m after it emerged from the Unteruckersee , 17.5 m above sea level. Today the outlet pipe can be seen there, the old river was piped in the street "Am Strom" in the 1970s from about the beginning of the development to its mouth. This estuary is now called Alter Strom (formerly Mühlenstrom) and currently receives a minimum of 60 liters per second. Most of the water is now routed west of Prenzlau and flows into the Quillow , 2.856 km before it flows into the Ucker. Although the Quillow has a catchment area of only 174.2 km² above the confluence, compared to 256.5 km² of the river, the river is counted as a tributary of the Quillow.
