Stuart Richard Bickel (born October 2, 1986 in Chanhassen , Minnesota ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League since October 2015 .

Career

The preferred acting in the position of defender Stu Bickel was initially active from 2004 to 2006 for the Green Bay Gamblers in the United States Hockey League . The 2006/07 game year was spent by the right-handed shooter with their league rivals Sioux Falls Stampede . Then Bickel completed a season in the jersey of the University of Minnesota ice hockey team in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association . The American, who had never been drafted , was signed as a free agent by the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League in July 2008 . His first season in the organization of Californians spent the defender in the AHL - Farm Team Iowa Stars . In the following two playing years, he initially commuted several times between several teams from the American Hockey League and ECHL , before Bickel was transferred to the New York Rangers in November 2010 by the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Nigel Williams .

After starting the 2011/12 season with the Connecticut Whale in the American Hockey League, Bickel was appointed to the New York Rangers' NHL squad in December 2011. On December 20, 2011, he made his debut in the game against the New Jersey Devils in the National Hockey League and posted his first scorer point . In his rookie season , Bickel managed to earn a regular place in the defense of the New York Rangers. He was used in a total of 51 regular season games and 18 playoff games for the Blueshirts .

After his contract with the Rangers was not renewed, he joined the Minnesota Wild as a free agent in July 2014 and signed a one-year contract there. There he was used, however, mainly with the Iowa Wild in the American Hockey League ; in addition, his contract was not extended after the end of the season. In October 2015, he therefore joined the San Diego Gulls from the AHL.
