A Conestoga built in 1955

The Studebaker Conestoga was an all-steel station wagon made by the Studebaker Corporation in South Bend, Indiana from 1954 to 1955. The company chose the name Conestoga as a tribute to the old wheelwright business that existed from the 1850s to the early 20th century.

The Studebaker Conestoga station wagons had a wheelbase of 2959 mm. They were 3-door station wagons with a 2-part rear door / tailgate leading to the cargo area.

The Conestoga was also available as an ambulance , which Studebaker called the Ambulet . He had a stretcher, Red Cross signs, and other ambulance equipment. The ambulet was primarily sold to the police , fire brigade and funeral home in small towns, which at the time also offered ambulance services.

In late 1955, Studebaker des Conestoga hired. The body, however, lived on through some styling and name changes; it existed until 1961 as the "compact car" Lark .
