Studebaker Light Four touring car (1919)

The Studebaker Light Four was a passenger car manufactured by the Studebaker Corporation in South Bend, Indiana in model years 1918 and 1919. The car was officially called the Model SH Series 19 and was available as a touring car, sedan and roadster .

The Light Four had a wheelbase of 2,845 mm and was powered by a four-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 3,146 cm³ (bore × stroke = 88.9 mm × 127 mm), which developed 40 bhp (29 kW) at 2,000 rpm. The engine power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a leather cone clutch and a three-speed gearbox with a gearshift lever in the middle of the car. The foot brake worked on the outer band brakes on the rear wheels.

In 1920 Studebaker phased out the Light Four and from then on only produced six-cylinder cars.

Because of its low production figures, the Light Four is considered a rare model of its time by Studebaker collectors.
