Studebaker Land Cruiser (1953)

The Studebaker Land Cruiser was a passenger car manufactured by the Studebaker Corporation in South Bend, Indiana from 1934 to 1954. The Land Cruiser was presented at the Chicago World's Fair in 1933 together with the Silver Arrow , a product from Studebaker's former luxury brand Pierce-Arrow .

1934-1942

The Land Cruiser was a very streamlined sedan. He shared many of his add-on parts with the Pierce-Arrow Silver Arrow show car, which was presented on the same occasion. Work on both vehicles was commissioned before the settlement opened in March 1933 and Pierce-Arrow was sold to other investors.

The mass-produced Land Cruisers appeared in the shop windows of dealerships in the autumn of 1933 as 1934 models. The Land Cruiser was a special body shape and belonged to the President (Series C) model range of this year. It was priced at US $ 1,510 FOB.

In 1936 this body style was delivered as President or Commander . From 1937 to 1940, the cars were sold as Commander Cruiser or President Cruiser . The Land Cruiser name was officially returned for the 1941 and 1942 model years. In addition to the Land Cruiser in the Commander and President series, there was also the particularly luxurious Skyway Land Cruiser in 1941 , which had a slightly curved, one-piece windshield, rear fenders pulled down and various luxurious equipment details and fabrics.

1947-1954

When there was a Land Cruiser again in 1947, it had the longest wheelbase of any Studebaker, doors with center posts and an in-line six-cylinder; In 1951 the company's well-known V8 "Small Block" engine was used.

The Land Cruiser name disappeared at the end of the 1954 model year. The best-equipped Studebaker from 1955–1958 were called Studebaker President, a name that came from the corresponding pre-war models. After four years, however, the President was hired in favor of the compact Studebaker Lark .
