Studnice (German Brunn ) is a district of the municipality Lodhéřov ( Riegerschlag ) in South Moravia in the Czech Republic. The street village is located 6 km northwest of Jindřichův Hradec .

history

The first written mention as "villa Prvnne" comes from the year 1294. Until 1848 the village belonged to the Jindřichův Hradec estate. The spelling “Brunn” has remained unchanged since 1790.

The predominantly rural population lived mainly from growing rye, oats and potatoes. A number of craftsmen were also active in the community and various businesses were established there. The community has had a volunteer fire brigade since 1881 . The parish was parish in Riegerschlag , registers have existed since 1651.

After the First World War , the multi-ethnic state Austria-Hungary disintegrated . The 1919 Peace Treaty of Saint Germain declared the place part of the new Czechoslovak Republic . According to the Munich Agreement , which regulated the cession of the Sudeten German territories to Germany, the place belonged to the Niederdonau Gau from 1938 to 1945 .

After the end of the Second World War - which claimed 17 victims among the local residents - the territories transferred to Germany in the Munich Agreement were reassigned to Czechoslovakia . On May 30, 1945, at the same time as the surrounding towns, militant Czechs gathered the German residents of the town and drove them across the border into Austria. Due to the Beneš decree 108, their property was confiscated and placed under state administration. 14 families of the displaced remained in Austria and the remaining 78 families were transferred to Germany.

Since January 1, 1975 Studnice has been incorporated as a district in the northern neighboring Lodhéřov. In 2001 the village consisted of 54 houses in which 139 people lived.

Seal and coat of arms

A community seal has been found since 1658, which shows a shield with an oval wreath of flowers within the circumference. The inscription in the upper seal field reads “GERICHT PRVNN”.
