Su Sigmund (born in Salzburg ) is an Austrian costume designer .

life and work

Sigmund studied music at the Mozarteum and stage design with Erich Wonder at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna . Until 2002 she was Wonder's assistant a. a. for productions in Zurich, Amsterdam, Berlin and Vienna. Her first independent costume design was the Wiener Festwochen production of Ian McEwan's cement garden in 2000 . Tina Lanik staged it , with whom she then worked closely at the Bavarian State Theater in Munich. a. Fassbinder Drops on Burning Rocks , Grabbe Herzog Theodor von Gothland , Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet , Ravenhill's pool or Brecht's In the Jungle of Cities . In 2007 she designed the costumes for Martin Kušej's Woyzeck production at the Residenztheater , which was also shown at the Holland Festival . Sigmund also worked at the Staatstheater Stuttgart , the Deutsches Theater Berlin , the Vienna Burgtheater , as well as for the theaters in Bochum , Hamburg and Zurich .

In 2008 she designed the costumes for Martin Kušej's production of Stravinski's The Rake's Progress at the Theater an der Wien and in the Zurich Opera House . This production was resumed in Vienna in autumn 2013. Other works for the music theater were - all at the Koblenz Theater - Massenet's Werther , Brecht / Weill's Threepenny Opera and Britten's Peter Grimes . In 2017 she was responsible for the costumes in Mathis der Maler under the direction of Elisabeth Stöppler at the Mainz State Theater .
