action

Michael works as a travel writer for the New York Times . He made a name for himself with his well-reviewed debut, a New York Chronicle about the late 1980s and early 1990s, when AIDS was circulating in the city, and he also lost his first friend to the disease.

He came to Tel Aviv for his column, in which he tries to find out as much as possible about his destination in just five days . He's rented an apartment in a trendy neighborhood. While Michael is very organized, Tomer, his Israeli landlord, is so chaotic that he promptly mistook his guest's arrival date and shot a movie in the promised apartment. Michael can no longer stay there, so he wants to look for a hotel room. Because the young film student explains to him that he absolutely needs the money, Michael stays.

production

Director Eytan Fox presented at Tribeca Film Festival 2012 already his film Yossi ago

The director was the Israeli Eytan Fox , who once again deals with the interface between life in the LGBT IQ community and Jewish life with the film. It is his ninth film as a director. In Yossi & Jagger , released in 2002 , Fox featured a doomed gay romance between two soldiers. In 2006, The Bubble went one step further and examined the "forbidden love" between two Israeli and Palestinian men in Tel Aviv, while Yossi from 2012 examined the disenchantment of the soldier from the 2002 film. Fox also wrote the script for Sublet with Itay Segal .

The film is divided into five chapters, which are entitled Day 1 to Day 5. The first day shows Michael's arrival in Tel Aviv. On the second day he has breakfast with Tomer on the balcony. On the evening of the third day they go dancing, on the fourth day they go to Tomer's mother together.

The American film and theater actor took on the role of John Benjamin Hickey , the newcomer Niv Nissim the role of his landlord Tomer. Miki Kam plays Tomer's mother Malka, Lihi Kornowsk his girlfriend Daria. Peter Spears plays Michael's husband David in New York, with whom he stays in contact via Skype.

In mid-April 2020, the film should celebrate its premiere as part of the Tribeca Film Festival . One month before the start of the festival, it was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic and postponed indefinitely. Nevertheless, the film was made available online from April 15-26, 2020, the festival's original time slot. A first clip was released around the time of the first performance.
