The Sumitomo Electric Vehicle Electrical Systems SE (abbreviated SEBN ) is a global supplier of electrical wiring systems and components for the international automotive industry. The company, based in Wolfsburg , Lower Saxony , employs 33,000 people at 31 locations in 15 countries.

Customers include companies in the automotive industry, in particular the Volkswagen Group with the brands Volkswagen , Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Audi , Seat , Škoda , Bugatti and Porsche . The product portfolio includes complete electrical systems, customer-specific cable harnesses / cable harnesses (KSK) or cable sets, engine, door, seat and high-voltage cable sets. Sumitomo Electric Bordeze accompanies vehicle projects from concept development through production to precise-sequence delivery to the customer and has specific production, process and testing technologies as well as its own sample and prototype construction.

history

The company is part of Sumitomo Electric Industries . The group, whose roots go back over 400 years, comprises around 390 branches and subsidiaries in various industries in more than 30 countries, mainly in Asia, North America and Europe. In total, Sumitomo Electric Industries employs more than 240,000 people worldwide. Sumitomo Electric Borderze was founded in 1986 as a joint venture between Volkswagen AG and Siemens AG under the name Volkswagen Borderze GmbH.

The first international locations were established in the early 1990s, including in Poland (1992) and Slovakia (1996). In 2003 the joint venture Changchun Volkswagen Bordeze Co., Ltd. was founded. in Changchun and thus entry into the Chinese market. Further SEBN manufacturing plants are located in Ukraine , Romania , Bulgaria , Mexico , Tunisia , Morocco and Moldova. The company also has development sites in Wolfsburg , Ingolstadt , Stuttgart and Mladá Boleslav ( Czech Republic ).

In 2006, the selling Volkswagen AG and Siemens AG , the Volkswagen board networks GmbH , the company was Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd. and Sumitomo Wiring Systems Ltd. taken over and has been operating as Sumitomo Electric Bordeze ever since .

The company acted as a GmbH until November 2015 , in the meantime it switched to a stock corporation and was converted to the European stock corporation Societas Europaea (SE) in October 2016.
