The SunnyBAG GmbH is an Austrian company in the field of solar energy with headquarters in Graz and branches in Shenzhen (China) and in Sunnyvale (USA). SunnyBAG develops, produces and sells solar panels for mobile energy supply, which allow smartphones , tablets and other mobile companions to be charged with solar energy . The SunnyBAG product range consists primarily of solar backpacks, solar shoulder bags and solar protective bags for GoPro cameras, but also of freely usable flexible and rigid solar panels without a pocket.

history

SunnyBAG was founded in 2010 by Stefan Ponsold as a sole proprietorship . The first product was a solar bag, which was initially soldered and sewn by Stefan Ponsold himself. In 2011, SunnyBAG cooperated with aid organizations for the first time and won awards such as the Fast Forward Award, the Clean Tech Media Award (now GreenTec Award) and the Primus Award. In 2012 the reorganization to SunnyBAG GmbH followed. At the end of 2013, Stefan Ponsold, as managing director of SunnyBAG GmbH, had his first major TV appearance in the startup show "2 Minuten 2 Mio" from PULS4 , in which no investment was made. In the years that followed, there were several collaborations with aid organizations such as SOS Children's Villages , Doctors Without Borders , UNICEF and the WHO , which at the end of 2014 resulted in the AidEX Award. In 2015, SunnyBAG financed the production of a new product group for the first time via the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter.com, which was launched in Austria at the time . The over this Kickstarter campaign funded solar charger PowerTAB was in the summer of 2016 in a slightly slimmed-down version at discount Hofer offered. In autumn 2016, he took part in the German founder show Die Höhle der Löwen on the TV channel VOX , in which Ralf Dümmel could not be won as an investor, but as a partner.

In 2017 a new development from SunnyBAG comes onto the market. These are all-in-one VR glasses that have raised more than € 85,000 on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter.com. In addition, it became known in mid-2017 that the Kelag company was taking a 40 percent stake in the company as an investor, which it claims has been profitable since the end of 2015. Around 32,000 bags are already in circulation.
