Susan Flannery
Susan Flannery (born July 31, 1939 in Jersey City , New Jersey ) is an American actress and director . She is often called the "Queen of the Soap Genre" and is a Golden Globe and Emmy Prize winner.
life and career
Susan Flannery grew up in New York City and studied drama before moving to Hollywood . There she was discovered by the film producer Irwin Allen , who hired her as Robert Wagner's lover for the film Flammendes Inferno . For this performance, she received a Golden Globe for Best Young Actress .
Flannery became known through her appearances in various television series . From 1966 to 1975 she played the role of Dr. Laura Spencer Horton in the series Zeit der Sehnsucht . In 1977 she was nominated for an Emmy for the series The Bankers . From 1980 to 1981 she played the role of Leslie Steward in Dallas .
In 1987 Flannery was the first actress to be hired by William J. Bell for his soap opera Reich und Schön and in which she could be seen as Stephanie Douglas Forrester until 2012 . In 2000 and 2002 she received a Daytime Emmy Award in the category Best Actress and in 2001 a nomination. She also directed some episodes, which earned her nominations for the Directors Guild of America Award.
Flannery has one daughter and lives in Santa Barbara , California .
