Suticollo is a town in the department of Cochabamba in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Suticollo is the third largest town in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Sipe Sipe in the province of Quillacollo . Suticollo is located at the southwestern end of the Cochabamba plain at an altitude of 2529  m on the right western bank of the Río Rocha , the main source of the Bolivian Río Grande .

Suticollo lies between the Bolivian Cordillera Central and the Cordillera Oriental in the transition area to the Bolivian lowlands.

The mean average temperature of the region is around 18 ° C (see climate diagram Cochabamba) and fluctuates only slightly between 14 ° C in June and July and 20 ° C in November. The annual precipitation is about 450 mm, with a pronounced dry season from May to September with monthly precipitation below 10 mm, and a rain maximum in January with 120 mm monthly precipitation.

Transport network

Suticollo is 27 kilometers by road west of Cochabamba , the capital of the department.

From Cochabamba, the paved road Ruta 4 heads west via the town of Quillacollo and Vinto to Suticollo and from here on to Caracollo , where it crosses with Ruta 1 . The Ruta 1 crosses the Altiplano from north to south, thus providing connections to the cities of La Paz , Oruro and Potosí ago.

Due to the historically grown population distribution, the region has a high proportion of Quechua population, in the municipality of Sipe Sipe 83.9 percent of the population speak the Quechua language.
