Sven von Storch (born December 23, 1970 in Osorno , Chile ) is a German-Chilean businessman . With his wife Beatrix von Storch , he leads various political networks related to Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) .

Life

Sven Andreas von Storch's father moved to Chile after the Second World War , after the Storch family's estate in Parchow , Rostock district in Mecklenburg , in the former Soviet occupation zone had been expropriated. His father built up a new life as a farmer in Chile and found his wife, who was also from Germany, there. Sven von Storch grew up as one of four sons in Chile and received his school education there. In the eleventh grade he attended a school in Germany. After graduating from high school in Chile, Sven von Storch came to Germany to study business administration and has lived in Germany ever since. He completed his studies with a degree in business administration . After the reunification of the GDR , his brother Thomas bought back what had previously been his grandparents' property in Mecklenburg from the German state. This brother was killed in an airplane accident in 2004.

During his studies, Sven von Storch met his future wife around 1993; they married in October 2010 and live together in Berlin .

Political activities

The first project together with his future wife was the founding of the Göttingen Students Association for the Rule of Law . He protested against the refusal of the Kohl government to give back their property to the landowners expropriated in the Soviet occupation zone between 1945 and 1949. The two later also founded the association “Alliance for the Rule of Law”, which campaigned against the recognition of expropriations by the GDR - land reform by the then federal government under Helmut Kohl .

According to Alexander Häusler , Beatrix and Sven von Storch run a campaign network in the background of the AfD, which has a pool of associations and websites for which Sven von Storch is responsible.

  • The Zivile Koalition eV association
  • The Zivile Allianz eV association
  • The Institute for Strategic Studies Berlin (ISSB) eV
  • The website “Demo for All” , which mobilizes against sex education and the equality of homosexual partnerships.

The association Civil Coalition operates the projects eurocheck.de (now removed), abgeordneten-check.de "initiative family protection" and "decision for life," which are also guided by Sven von Storch. These serve to present the political positions of the AfD, such as the rejection of the Renewable Energy Sources Act and gender mainstreaming , but do not claim to be directly linked to the party. Sven von Storch is editor of the internet blog Die Freie Welt .

Media reports

Media such as Die Welt and Der Spiegel reported that Sven von Storch was accused of having withdrawn a total of 98,000 euros from the civil coalition's account for private purposes . The Storch couple stated that the money was in a safe deposit box of the civil coalition in Berlin in order to ensure the liquidity of the association even in the event of a bank run .
