Civil coalition

The Zivile Koalition eV is a conservative political association in Germany.

Club structure

The association was founded in 2005 by Beatrix von Storch . Since then she has been the first chairwoman, spokeswoman and secretary of the association. Her husband Sven von Storch is the second chairman and treasurer, and other members of the association also belong to the von Storch family. In addition to the close ties with the von Storch family, there are also close relationships with other associations and initiatives, most of which are also shaped by this family:

• EU-Check (represented by: Sven von Storch)
• the right to life campaign One of Us (spokeswoman: Hedwig von Beverfoerde )
• The decision for life initiative (represented by Sven von Storch, speaker: Andreas Lombard )
• the family protection initiative (represented by Sven von Storch, spokeswoman: Hedwig von Beverfoerde)

Together with the Friedrich A. von Hayek Society and other organizations, the civil coalition organizes the "Freedom Forum".

The exact number of members is unknown, according to some reports the association consists exclusively of family members. The association names the number of its supporters at around 100,000, but this figure is also questioned.

The association has around 14 employees (as of 2013). However, this information is repeatedly called into question.

The seat of the association is in Berlin-Mitte.

Goals and Activities

The basic positions of the association include:

• a tax system with low, uniform tax rates (cf. models by Paul Kirchhof and Friedrich Merz), from which high income earners in particular benefit
• a constitutional requirement that forbids taking on additional debt
• the deregulation of the labor market and social security as well as the dismantling of support services in these departments
• the introduction of proportional representation with flexible lists or majority voting
• the promotion of births by emphasizing the definition of the family as the primary or exclusive connection between man and woman and the ideal and financial support of these marriages
• Changes in education policy

The association sees itself as an association of citizens who advocate more civil society engagement and represent their common interests to governments and parliaments. The Handelsblatt described the civil coalition in 2012 as a protest company that feels committed to a conservative worldview.

A class action brought by over 5000 citizens before the European Court of Justice (ECJ) against the European Central Bank (ECB) buying government bonds from indebted EU countries is based on the civil coalition .

The civil coalition was significantly involved in the resistance to the euro rescue course , with a major role "in the conservative camp outside the Union ".

Further impulses were directed against the family reunification of refugees and against the abolition of cash.

Political scientists sometimes rate the civil coalition as “the most politically effective Christian fundamentalist force in the AfD”.

The association operates several websites, including a. medien Freedom.de, parliamentcheck.de, which spread the specific demands of the association. So z. B. the abolition of the license fee. Civilpetition.de acts as a petition website.

criticism

The association made the headlines because there was suspicion of misappropriation of donations . In 2016, a journalist uncovered possible data abuse in the network of the association's websites and filed a complaint. The association was also accused of buying e-mail addresses from address dealers.
