Karl Feldmeyer

Karl Feldmeyer (born November 30, 1938 in Mindelheim ; † December 18, 2016 in Berlin ) was a German journalist . He dealt in particular with questions of Germany and security policy. Feldmeyer was a proven expert on politics and internal structures of the CDU and CSU through his many years of correspondent activity .

Life

After graduating from high school in Mainz and doing an internship at the Frankfurter Neue Presse, Feldmeyer studied political science and history . Since June 1, 1971 he was employed as an editor at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ). Since 1976 he has been their correspondent in Bonn , since 1999, after the move of the Bundestag and the federal government , to Berlin . At the end of 2004, Feldmeyer left the FAZ and retired at the age of 65.

Since retiring, he has supported the national-conservative initiatives “Alliance for the Rule of Law” and “Civil Coalition for Germany”. Both projects were initiated and run by the couple Sven and Beatrix von Storch , as well as the blog newspaper Die Freie Welt , for which Karl Feldmeyer published and was a member of the editorial board. In the short version of the self-promotion video of the weekly newspaper Junge Freiheit on the occasion of its 20th anniversary, Karl Feldmeyer can be seen alongside Herbert Fleissner , Bernd Rabehl , Rolf Hochhuth , Fritz Schenk and Thor Kunkel as an advocate of Junge Freiheit , for which he also worked as an author .

Among other things, he was a member of the Clausewitz Society . Feldmeyer was the senior man of the Mainz Academic-Music Association in the Sondershäuser Association .

Awards

In 1978 Feldmeyer was awarded the Theodor Wolff Prize of the Federal Association of German Newspaper Publishers for his report on the Bundeswehr espionage case in Lutze / Wiegel .

In 2006 Feldmeyer was awarded the same honor again, this time for his life's work.

In November 2013 Feldmeyer received the Gerhard Löwenthal Prize for Journalism from the Foundation for Conservative Education and Research in Berlin.
